Research Data warehouse

The Research Data Warehouse is an index on all data that is stored in DataHub. It can be used to search across your own data, but also (meta)data of others.
The idea is based on the FAIR principles, where all metadata is Findable, but only data for which you are authorized is Accessible.

Interesting data sets that are not accessible by you, do contain a Contacts with information on the data uploader / owner.

Before you start!

In order to use the DataHub infrastructure, make sure that you are connected to the UM- or MUMC-network. Either physically or via VPN.

Step 1 - Open the portal

Point your browser to
Use the menu on the right side to login with your UM- or MUMC+ credentials.

Don't forget to check the mark with the I'm not a robot Captcha.

Step 2 - Open the data warehouse

After logging in, you should be able to click the Data Warehouse item in the menu at the left side.

This will open the interface displayed on the right:

Several search methods are available.

  • Free text (top left). Does also support wildcards * .

  • Date-range filter

  • Ontology browsers for Organism, Organ or Technology.
This widget also allows selection of superclasses.
For instance, it is possible to select all organisms that are member of the superclass mammals.
The search results will be updated accordingly.

The resultset is shown on the right side with a card interface.

These cards are interactive. A click on the tab Contacts will present all contact persons for a data set.
Publications will open a view for all related publications that have been attached to this data set.

The boxes for Project, Organism, Organ or Technology are clickable as well. These will generate a resultset for the respective term.

The lowermost box contains a direct link to this data set in the iRODS cloud browser.

To use this link and access the actual data set, you'll need a sufficient authorization level.
Trying to access a dataset that is not shared with you, will result in a fail message.

You can always contact the person responsible for this dataset to either get access or start a collaboration.
