Welcome to the MUMC+ DataHub services. You've arrived here as a M4I researcher looking for (new) ways to handle research data. This page serves as a quick guide and links to the different MUMC+ DataHub services.

What is MUMC+ DataHub?

DataHub provides building blocks for your data driven research. The DataHub team is actively involved in developing knowledge, guidance and capacity building in managing and sharing data, primarily for the health sciences, in accordance with the FAIR data principles. We provide a modern, state-of-the-art infrastructure that is more than just a data archive.

Before you start!

In order to use the DataHub infrastructure, make sure that you are connected to the UM- or MUMC-network. Either physically or via VPN.

First step - Check your account and projects

Your account at M4I has been activated for DataHub usage. You may already have been added to your relevant project. The first step is to check this.

  1. Login to the DataHub website (right side of page)
  2. Click on Drop Zones
  3. Start a new Drop Zone
  4. Check in the first dropdown whether your project is listed there.
  5. If not, follow the Create a project guide

If your project is listed, you're ready to upload your data.

Uploading project data

Uploading project data to DataHub starts by creating a Drop Zone. This is a special network directory where you can place data from a specific investigation together. After finishing, the data is ingested into DataHub.

  1. Login to the DataHub website (right side of page)
  2. Click on Drop Zones
  3. Follow the Uploading new data via Drop Zones guide

Finding data

The Data Warehouse can be used find your data or that of your colleagues. Follow the research data warehouse guide for a step by step guide.

Retrieving data

Once you have found your data using the Data Warehouse there are two methods for retrieving data.

  • Using the iRODS cloudbrowser in your browser (Chrome, Firefox, etc.)
  • Using WebDAV in the desktop file explorer

Both methods are explained step by step in the methods for retrieving data guide.
